BOOTIES AND BELLES RAISE OVER £200!!

Evening ladies!! Just want to talk about this week because it has been a PHENOMENAL week for Cambridge Bootcamps and Cambridge Kettlebelles.

Last weekend we were asked to organise a charity bootcamp to raise money for theArthur Rank Hospice and raise awareness for the 2012 Gold Challenge  (See CEN report here:–> http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Cambridge/Challenge-gets-kickstart-from-bootcamp-20012012.htm )  We had over 30 women show up and burpee, lunge, squat and  hop their way through 2 hours of training to raise just over £200 for the charity :O)

This weekend we organised our second ‘SUPER WOMAN SUNDAY’ which is a day event where you can taster all the classes we have on offer at the BELLES studio, or stay for the whole day #onlyforthehardcore and complete 4 hours of total body strength. We used kettlebells, Sandballs, TRX, BenderBalls, our trusty GymbossBodyweight exercises, Pull-up bars, bands (for resistance when doing pull-ups or chin-ups), and finally we had relaxing Yoga with the lovely Rachael Moore. We were booked up within 48 hours of announcing this event which just shows you how popular they are, and many of our ladies achieved PB’s today with the Kettlebells or tried something they had never experienced before (Think Mountain Climbers on the TRX!) LOL!! ;)

We are extremely LUCKY to be surrounded by such positive, strong, focused women, who continue to make fantastic choices about Nutrition and exercise, and support us in whatever we put out there!! Watching all those amazing women achieve pull-ups today was the icing on the raw carrot cake for me this week!!!

Thank you all BELLES and BOOTCAMPERS for inspiring me and making it a pleasure to keep this business alive :O) Strong IS the new skinny! Find me on twitter with the hashtag #SINS2012 https://twitter.com/#!/purplefitness

Lots of love

CHARLIE :O) xxx

GOALS+ACTIONS FOR 2012 ;O)

Are you ready for this?

2011 was actually a pretty AMAZING year – one of the best for me.  I became CROSS-FIT certified (Level 1) (Major achievement for me!!)  I got a STUDIO with the lovely Donna-Belle so that I could finally launch ‘CAMBRIDGE KETTLEBELLES‘ which had been an idea in my mind for about 2 years. The studio is AWESOME!!! I know that Donna and I have put our hearts and souls into this, the website and creating an online presence to be able to spread our fitness love around the globe.   We expanded the Cambridge Bootcamp to 9 camps with 4 SUPERB TRAINERS.  My mum beat Breast Cancer , whilst I also had my own introduction into cancer cells, and within that we both learnt a whole lot more about Nutrition and its impact on the body to be able to heal itself :o

My boy started senior school (is it still called that these days?) ;) and I finally paid off ‘most’ of my credit card debt!! I got myself a new car that has my logo all over it and ran several races this year including the intense Spartan Race.

The cherry on the cake was winning an award for Cambridge Bootcamps –> We won “Highly commended for Diet and Fitness” This was an incredibly proud moment for me, as I am sure it would be for anyone and I am still so proud of all the women who make this dream job possible for me to do.

Given that we are already in 2012, I thought it may be an idea to look at what I hope to achieve this year. I have no desire to write a list of resolutions as I know only too well that I normally ignore them within one day, feel like a failure and become negative towards myself (a lesson i learnt a few years ago).  So, given my experience, I am hoping to write a list of my goals with an action plan beside them.  I am doing this, as I hope as you are reading this you may be thinking “I’d really like to join bootcamp this year BUT……..”   Or, “I’d really like to run that 5k BUT……. “

So, let’s do this together……

My list:

I am going to run the Cambridge Half Marathon in March and therefore achieve my goal of running a half marathon before I am 40! Eeek! It’s that number again ;o) So, my training needs to include long runs within my weekly schedule over the next three months. My action plan will be to keep a training log in my little book, and schedule in long and short sprint runs during my week.

Stay sober for 3 months (Jan, Feb and March) — action?  STAY AWAY FROM BOOZE and the lovely wine shop on Cherry Hinton rd! ;)

Sort out my bootcamp and work schedule so that I am not working 18 hour days!! Action plan –> I am currently working with new potential trainers to take over the Cherry Hinton evening camp, AND starting a new one evening a week HARDCORE outdoor class near my new studio (Harvest Way)

Be happy in my own skin, and not get caught up in the view that “I will be happy if I could just change ….”  I can action this by looking at how I treat myself every day! I am aware that a lot of us look for that answer of happiness outside ourselves.. I hear the above A LOT when I work with people, either in a counselling situation or within the bootcamp setting.   The solutions have to come from within, SO, I will personally start by drinking and eating foods that nourish me. I have already been researching recipes on the internet, dug out the slow cooker, and invaded the local farm shop!  I will also only read things that enhance my well-being and learning. Not absorb others negativity, and understand that there are some things which I just cannot change :)

I actually have quite a lot of aspirations for this year, but that would mean going on forever, but you get the general gist of what I am doing here right?

Tell me about your goals for 2012, what IS it that you would like to change TODAY??

HAPPY 2012 HOPE ITS A GREAT ONE FOR YOU X

Our Cambridge Bootcamp Netball team is going from strength to strength BUT we still need some players to fill the squad . If this is something that interests you, please contact Sharon Roberts via her Facebook or calling her at 07900583346. She is the manager of the team, and an amazingly friendly and encouraging bootcamper who may even begin to start teaching for us as well ;0)

Our very own Jenny Cattier has launched her clean eating food delivery service this week!  ”CAMBRIDGE SUPERFOODS”

This is so exciting for Jenny, and for the bootcamp girls as we get ours slightly cheaper ;o)) She has her own Facebook page here
http://www.facebook.com/pages/ Cambridge-SuperFoods/ 111315342313617  or website is here http://www. cambridgesuperfoods.com/    I had my food delivered this morning, and it was YUM!!!!

As some of you may or may not remember I put out before christmas a request for two women to come and ‘work’ for Cambridge Bootcamps. I was asking for someone who loved to cook, wanted to talk about their journey publicly, and in return I would give 6 months free bootcamp.  I was inundated with emails from amazing women who all wanted this prize. I then whittled it down and interviewed a few of those women. In the end, I really struggled to keep it to just two places, SO, we have THREE winners!!!

These 3 women are Stef Barker;  Karen Enright and Alex Oliver   So a MASSIVE congratulations to those three women and I look forward to watching their lives transform over the coming months x

You can follow their journeys here if you wish–>

ANOTHER DATE FOR YOUR DIARY IS JANUARY 14th, 2012 at 12 noon – 2pm

                          ******CHARITY BOOTCAMP********

Cambridge Bootcamps/ Cambridge Kettlebelles has joined forces with the Arthur Rank Hospice and the 2012 Olympic Gold Challenge to do a 2 session Charity Bootcamp at Christ’s Piece. Starting at 12 noon for 45 minutes and again at 1.15pm for another 45 minutes. We need as many of you fabulous ladies to come down and take part and help show the rest of Cambridge what we are all about. We will not only be helping to raise awareness and money for the Arthur Rank Hospice but also showcasing the benefits of a healthy and fun lifestyle.   Spread the word, and come along and meet us all :o )  I really hope this will be a fabulous day.

Event on FACEBOOK!

In our quest to maintain motivation and goals for ourselves, Donna-Belle and myself have made vision boards, with our ‘not so new year’s’ resolutions on them.  As you can see below (mine is the purple one), I will be turning 40 this year! This will be a milestone and a half!! I am looking forward to it in some ways as I am fitter, stronger and faster than I have ever been in my adult life, and very proud of what I have achieved and the amount of lives we change here. But there is also a part of me that is slightly worried, but `I am going to leave that in it’s box for now, whilst I enjoy the last three months of my 30′s ;o) I will undoubtedly write a whole blog post for you about this (see one of my goals!) but until then, have a look at our visions for this year and have a think about the things you would like to achieve this year.
So as you can see from my little board, I am hoping to make some more entries on this blog, and keep making a difference as I hurtle into my 40th year :o )
Have a great day x
